Ingress is an augmented reality game created by Google.
Basically, the game uses real places around the world as strategic points. They are called portals. Gamers can create or destroy them. There are two teams or factions (the Enlightened and the Resistance), and each one have to protect and/or take portals from the other team. The goal is to link the portals to create virtual triangular fields around the world. You play on your phone, since you have to be physically at the places.
So as you can imagine, this is a time consuming game, but also a life changing experience.
From time to time, players organize events to play massively. A friend on Googe+ asked me to create a logo, and a flag for and event taking place in Brussels.
She plays for the Resistance. So the logo had to have the official key logo and the blue colour that represent that faction.
Belgium is known for the comic books culture and is the home of the Smurfs, created by Peyo. Unfortunately, due to some copyright concerns we decided to not use these characters. Instead we went for the Atomium monument, which is also a well known reference for Brussels.
